Strawberries and Cream Overnight Oats (31 g protein)

This Strawberries and Cream Overnight Oats recipe takes just 5 minutes of prep time and uses basic pantry staples: rolled oats, protein powder, milk, Greek yogurt, fresh strawberries, and a touch of heavy cream. No actual cooking is required—just mix, chill, and enjoy!

The combination of Greek yogurt and just a small tablespoon of heavy cream goes such a long way to give these oats an amazingly rich, creamy texture and sweet strawberry flavor. Plus, as a dietitian, I love that you get 31 grams of protein to help keep you full and energized all morning long.

Recipe Highlights

  • 5-minute prep time — mix it up before bed and let the fridge do the work
  • Easy to meal prep — make a batch and you’ve got breakfast covered for the week
  • Customizable — swap in your favorite fruit. Peaches, sautéed apples, or another berry would all be delicious here. Try different yogurt or protein powder flavors too.

Ingredient Notes

Ingredients for strawberries and cream overnight oats, including rolled oats, protein powder, milk, Greek yogurt, strawberries, honey, vanilla, and heavy cream.
  • Rolled oats — old-fashioned rolled oats work best for that classic overnight oats texture
  • Protein powder — plain unflavored or vanilla are my favorites. I also love using collagen since it mixes in easily and doesn’t change the texture of the oats overnight
  • Milk — 2% or whole milk makes for the creamiest oats and pairs perfectly with the strawberries
  • Greek yogurt — whole milk Greek yogurt gives you the creamiest consistency, but feel free to use your favorite flavored yogurt too. Strawberry or vanilla are both natural substitutions here
  • Heavy cream (optional, but it makes these SO creamy!) — leave it out if you want to keep things lighter or lower calorie. Half and Half would work well here too.
  • Strawberries — dice or mash them so you get little strawberry bits in every bite
  • Honey — maple syrup works great too

Expert Tips from the Test Kitchen

  • If you want more strawberry flavor in every bite, mash the strawberries before mixing them in so they fully incorporate into the oats.
  • Give everything a good stir again in the morning before digging in.
  • If you prefer a thicker consistency, cut the milk in half.
  • You can use frozen strawberries instead of fresh, but know that they’ll release more water as they thaw, so the texture will be a bit looser. I would microwave them so they are mashable.
  • These are delicious served cold straight from the fridge, or warmed up the next morning in the microwave.
